Donald G. Longcrier, Artist Biography
Donald G Longcrier passed away due to an aggressive cancer on June 14, 2024. He produced paintings, sculpture, and installation work in a variety of scales and materials from the 1980s until his death. His art is abstract, contemplative, quiet, and was exhibited in Colorado, Missouri, Texas, and Oklahoma. Pieces also are in numerous private collections.
Don earned Master of Fine Arts (1994) and Bachelor of Science in zoology (1979) degrees from the University of Oklahoma. In 1995, he received the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition Artist Award of Excellence Fellowship for outstanding creative work.
Don served as Director of the Nona Jean Hulsey Gallery and Adjunct Professor of Art at Oklahoma City University. He taught sculpture, painting, drawing, and design classes at the University of Oklahoma.
He lived most of his adult life in Norman, Oklahoma with his wife and two daughters.
